Aging and weight loss/gain can take a toll on the body. You’ve been working hard to regain tone and your youthful appearance. But no matter how many days you hit the gym, and no matter how clean you eat, you continue to encounter undesirable excess skin.
Body Contouring is a suite of procedures geared toward helping to restore and rejuvenate specific areas of the body by removing excess skin and fat, restoring tone to the underlying tissues. During your consultation with board-certified surgeon Dr. Lavinia Chong, you will have an opportunity to review your aesthetic goals. In reviewing those goals, Dr. Chong may suggest one or more of the following procedures as part of your surgical plan:
- Brachioplasty: for those who wish to restore tone to the upper arm area by removing excess fat and tissue.
- Gynecomastia: a reduction of excess breast tissue which can be combined with liposuction to create a more trim and sculpted chest area.
- Abdominoplasty: restores tone and removes excess skin and fat as a result excessive weight loss.
Frequently Asked Questions:
How do I know if I am a good candidate for these surgical procedures?
A good surgical candidate is someone who does not smoke, who is in good overall health, and who is at a healthy goal weight. Our goal if healthy, optimal patient outcomes. To achieve this goal, we look to avoid any possible contributing factors to delayed wound healing (such as smoking).
Do I have to go through any type of testing prior to surgery?
Yes. All patients have a pre-operative appointment approximately two weeks prior to surgery. For this appointment, you will need to have results from a series of lab tests, and dependent upon age, and EKG. Many of these tests may have already been completed by your primary care physician at the time of you last physical, and if timely and relevant, may fulfill any testing requirements. For any additional testing needed, we have contracted with local lab and cardiology providers whose services are available at a cash pricing rate.
How soon can you see me?
While Dr. Chong is generally scheduled out a bit, our patient care coordinator will do their best to accommodate your scheduling needs. Consultations are available in-office and also virtually for your scheduling convenience. Please advise your coordinator as to your preferred appointment type, as well as any time constraints or preferred timeframes for scheduling (be it your consultation or surgery).
