Society gravitates toward people who look good. Many find that being around others who look good, makes them look good. This is a professional pressure many men have begun to notice in the workplace. Your face is your calling card and your appearance reflects the brand you represent.
Facial asymmetry, wrinkles, dark spots…all of these can be cause for concern. Non-surgical facial rejuvenation can be a single treatment, a combination of treatments, and/or a series of treatments. No matter which problem our male patient is looking to resolve, there exists one common goal: to become an improved version of their current selves.
Setting realistic expectations is a key component to effective recovery and achievement of goals. For those looking to have little to no downtime, non-surgical treatments provide the most viable solution. Botox and dermal fillers are such that, with proper planning, same day recovery is achievable. Laser options begin to show signs of improvement within one week of treatment. And Ultherapy has as minimal as a day’s downtime.
Procedures & Recovery
Cutera Secret RF microneedling: This non-surgical aesthetic procedure can be performed year-round with little to no downtime. Secret RF is a novel fractional radio frequency micro-needling system for patients who wish to revitalize and refresh the appearance of their skin. Secret RF is designed to stimulate and remodel collagen and address the common signs of aging.
Botox: This FDA approved treatment is one of the most widely researched medicines in the world. A topical numbing cream is applied to the face, and tiny injections are administered directly into the muscles of the brow, forehead, and crow’s feet areas to temporarily smooth the appearance of wrinkles.
Dermal Fillers: A variety of fillers can be used to replace volume loss in the face and hands due to aging and natural asymmetry. Fillers such as Radiesse not only provide immediate replacement of volume, over time it stimulates the body to produce its own natural collagen. Hyaluronic acids (HA) such as Belotero, Juvederm, Restylane, Voluma, Volbella, and Vollure hydrate the skin by holding water in, acting as a cushioning agent.
Cutera Laser: The Excel V laser’s primary goal is the treatment of red, purple, blue, and brown pigmented lesions (think spider veins and sun spots). With this treatment, areas may get darker before seeing signs of improvement, and may take multiple treatments. Laser Genesis delivers micropulses to stimulate collagen production, improving the appearance of wrinkles. Multiple treatments may be recommended for optimal improvement and are available in a package series of three treatments.
CO2 Laser Resurfacing: This laser provides treatment of wrinkles, sun-damage, scars, enlarged pores, skin laxity, melasma, and overall skin rejuvenation. Laser skin resurfacing is a process of creating ablative thermal channels in the surface of the skin. The process of resurfacing stimulates the body’s natural healing process. Over time, this process stimulates the production of collagen.
Two weeks prior to treatment, a pre-procedure Alastin Skin Care regiment is suggested to prep the skin for optimal results. The day of treatment, a topical anesthetic is applied to alleviate any discomfort during the procedure. Patients are advised to allow themselves 5-10 days of downtime. This time can be improved with the continuation of Alastin as a post-ablative skin care treatment.

Facial Rejuvenation FAQs
How do I know which treatment to ask for?
We invite you to meet with Dr. Chong to discuss your goals and priorities. During your consultation you will have the opportunity to review past photos of yourself to gain better insight into your natural aging process and target your specific areas of concern. When scheduling your consultation, feel free to discuss the specific areas you are wishing to discuss with Dr. Chong as well as questions regarding specific treatments.
Do I have to schedule a consultation before treatment?
Yes. In order for Dr. Chong to have the appropriate amount of time to assess your goals and work with you to develop a treatment plan, a consultation is always the first step. Botox, dermal fillers, and Cutera may have the option of treatment the same day as your consultation. Please advise your appointment scheduler if this is an option you would like to consider.
Does being a smoker matter if I am having non-surgical treatments?
Yes. Please advise Dr. Chong if you are a current or former smoker so that she can address any risk factors during your consultation.
Why do I have to share my health history?
Physician and patient must work together to agree on a treatment plan. In determining your eligibility to receive treatment, Dr. Chong relies on the information you provide. Full disclosure of your medical history keeps Dr. Chong aware of any changes in your health history including but not limited to changes in medications, clinical diagnosis, and weight loss/gain.
How does Ultherapy work?
The Ulthera System delivers a low amount of micro focused ultrasound energy (MFU) to the skin. The heat travels through the superficial and deep layers of the skin to deliver a controlled thermal stimulus to the deep fibrous layer investing the facial muscles.
Will I see instant results with Ultherapy?
The results of Ultherapy are progressive and develop over the course of 90-120 days. Results may vary between patients. New collagen formation is an internal process and may not have a profoundly visible external effect.
How can I avoid bruising after having injectables?
It is recommended that you stop taking Advil, Aleve, and Aspirin no less than 10 days prior to having injectables. Please also refrain from drinking red wine during this same period so as to reduce the incidence of bruising.
What type of results can I expect from Botox?
You can expect to see results within days after your treatment. The appearance of the areas where you were injected may continue to improve for up to a week. Visible results have been shown to last up to 4 months, and after that you may be ready for a follow-up treatment.
Can I expect any pain or discomfort with dermal fillers?
Injections may cause some discomfort during and after the injection. Hyaluronic acid injectable gels are injected directly into the skin using a fine needle to reduce injection discomfort. Most patients request a topical numbing agent to minimize discomfort.
What is the cost of Botox and Dermal Fillers?
The cost of injections may involve several charges, including but not limited to the initial cost of injection (price varies based upon product and amounts used). Additional costs would include additional treatment to improve the appearance of facial wrinkles and soft tissue depressions beyond that of the initial treatment. If additional interim injections of dermal filler are recommended in order to maintain or improve results, patients will be responsible for the costs of this additional treatment. Quotes are available upon request prior to treatment.
Are Botox and Dermal Fillers permanent?
No. Correction is temporary; therefore, touch-up injections as well as repeat injections are usually needed to maintain optimal correction. Less material is usually needed for repeat injections.
How many Cutera Laser treatments will I need?
Multiple Cutera treatments may be needed to achieve optimal results. Each treatment is a separate charge. Quotes are available upon request prior to treatment. When treating sun damage, avoidance of sun and use of a broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen will aid in preventing further sun damage.
What type of post-treatment steps do I have to take at home following CO2 Laser Resurfacing?
You will be provided with instructions on post-procedure skin care the day of your treatment. If you have pets at home, Please be aware that you will be advised to distance yourself from them during your immediate post-procedure recovery phase. Prior to your procedure, you are advised to wash all bedding and thoroughly vacuum your sleeping area.
